Tooth Development?

  • Kids can start losing their baby teeth as early as 4 years old, but ever child is different.  Typically, 7 years old is when most kids lose their first tooth.
  • The front incisors usually fall out first and are replaced by permanent teeth.
  • Between the ages of 6 to 8 the first molars typically appear.
  • Between 8 to 10 years old the side incisors top and bottom and lower canines appear.
  • Around 10 to 13 years old 1st and 2nd bicuspids appear along with second molars.
  • From 17 to 21 years old wisdom teeth come in.
  • The end result is typically 32 adult teeth.
  • Baby teeth are very important because they hold a place for the adult teeth and help show them where they belong and the correct positioning.
  • Baby teeth also help with the development of speech and chewing.

What are teeth made of?

Calcium, phosphorus, and mineral salts make up the hard material   of the tooth.

   Dentine is the material of the majority of the tooth.

   Enamel is the hard, shiny layer that you brush.
